오래전 부터 아마존이 추진해오던 정책중 하나인 보험관련 정책이 최근 들어서 (2021년 8월부터 정격 공지) 이를 더욱 강력하게 시행되고 있습니다.. 아마존은 생산물 배상 책임보험에 가입한 셀러에 대해서 아마존을 피보험자로 지정해 둘경우 $1,000 이하의 고객 클레임에대해서 아마존이 해결하겠다는 정책입니다.
아마존 미국의 경우는 Amazon Insurance Accelerator 프로그램을 통해서, SB, Bold, Next 같은 제휴 업체를 통해 쉽고 빠르게 보험을 가입할 수 있지만, 미국 이외의 국가에서는 새롭게 시행된 아마존 정책에 부합하는 보험 상품을 찾기 쉽지 않을 뿐 아니라, 이제 막 보험 상품을 계발하고 있는 보험사가 많이 적당한 보험사를 찾기 어렵습니다..
한국의 경우 AIG난 삼성화재등이 발빠르게 보험 상품을 출시 하고 있고 이를 통해 아마존 보험 등록 승인을 받은 셀러의 이야기들이 회자되고 있습니다..
캐나다의 경우 미국과 인접하고 있지만 위에 언급한 보험사들에서 상품을 제공하고 있지 않고 캐나다내의 브로커를 통해서 직접 찾아야 하는 어려움이 있습니다.

위의 브로커/보험사들은 모두 온라인 견적을 제공하고 아마존 보험 (Commercial Liability Insurance)를 취급하지만, 판매하는 상품의 종류에 따라 월/년 매출액에 따라 보험료는 차이가 날 수 있다. 보통 온라인 견적을 의뢰 한 후 몇 차례 이메일 및 전화 통화 후 약 3~5일 정도면 보험 증서 (COI:Certificate of Insurance)를 발급 받을 수 있습니다.
다만, 위의 브로커이 중계한 최종 보험사들에 대한 검증과정이 필요한데, 아마존 보험은 S&P A- 이상 혹은 AM best A- 이상 등급을 요구하며 , 이를 충족하지 못할 경우 아마존으로 부터 거부관련 메일을 받게 됩니다. 해당 보험사의 등급은 아래 링크를 통해서 확인 가능 합니다.
브로커를 통하여 최종 COI를 발급 받았다면, 아래 과정을 통해서 등록 가능 합니다.
1) Seller Central에 로그인
2) "Setting" 메뉴아래 "Account Info" 선택
3) "Business Information" 섹션 아래 "Business Insurance" 선택
[중요] 아마존 캐나다 셀러 센트럴에서는 Business Insurance 메뉴가 보이지 않습니다. 국가를 미국으로 바꾼후에 업로드 하셔야 합니다.
보험회사로 부터 보험증서 (Certificate of Insurance)를 받으셨다면 아래와 같이 아마존 페이지에 입력하시면 됩니다.
아래는 아마존에서 제시한 상업 책임 보험의 요구 사항입니다.
Your commercial liability insurance policy must meet all of the following criteria:
The insurance policy type can be either commercial general, umbrella, or excess liability and be occurrence based, except for certain product categories below, where a claims-made policy may be acceptable;
The policy limit must be at least $1 million per occurrence and in aggregate, and cover liabilities caused by or occurring in conjunction with your business operations, including products, products/completed operations and bodily injury;
The deductible for any policy(ies) must not be greater than $10,000 and any deductible amount must be listed on the certificate(s) of insurance;
The policy must cover all sales from products you have listed on the Amazon website;
The policy must name "Amazon.com Services LLC and its affiliates and assignees" as additional insureds;
Your insured name must match the “legal entity” name you provided to Amazon (view your legal entity name);
Your insurance provider must have global claim handling capability and a financial rating of S&P A- and/or AM Best A- or better (if S&P or AM best is not valid or used in the country where you are required to obtain insurance, a local equivalent is allowed);
The policy must be completed in its entirety and signed;
Your insurance provider must give Amazon at least 30 days’ notice of cancellation, modification or nonrenewal;
Claims made policies are allowed only if you sell any combination of the following products (and you must maintain an occurrence-based policy for all other products that you sell on Amazon)
pharmaceuticals
nutraceuticals and dietary supplements
ingestible products
chemicals
critical automotive parts
children’s consumable products that are not insurable under an occurrence policy form
other products deemed acceptable to Amazon for claims made policies.
In addition to the policy requirements above, the claims made policy must have:
A policy limit of at least $1 million;
Your policy must be renewed continuously and be effective in full force for the period in which you sell the product(s) listed; and
Be in effect at least 3 years after you cease selling the products listed above, or include tail coverage for a minimum period of 3 years.
